Our guiding principle has always been to question the status quo and to strike out in new directions. It therefore pleases us even more that over 100 bicycle manufacturers opt for the Pinion drive technology and explore new horizons with us. The result: Top-class Pinion bikes that buck the trend. Irrespective of whether the bikes have a motor or not.

The idea behind the Pinion central gearbox was born in the gearbox development centre of Porsche in Weissach. As budding engineers and mountain biking enthusiasts, we were driven by the idea to develop a bicycle transmission that was as intuitive to use as a sports car, with the same high precision and low wear. After five years of development, numerous prototypes and countless hours on the test stand, things finally kicked into high gear in 2010. It was then that the first gearbox ready for series production crossed the Himalayas. Derived from the first gearbox, the P1.18, we developed further P-Line gearbox types, which differ greatly in terms of their characteristics and are perfectly tailored to touring and trekking, as well as for use in mountain bikes, urban bikes and e-bikes.

With the second product line, the C-Line, in 2017 we succeeded in offering our high-end gearbox technology also in upper middle-class bicycles. The unique Pinion riding sensation can now be experienced by every passionate cyclist. Living up to the claim of continuous development, we also have a strong focus on the further development of components. Simplicity, durability and reliability are attributes that should also apply to the components we manufacture.
