There's A Reason We Have No Digital Display
Our Point of View
We believe the pervasiveness of technology and screens is distracting, but we don't think technology on its own is bad. It is when technology serves itself that the experiences people have with it go wrong.
Just because technology can make a device beep, or tweet or flash data on a digital display does not mean it should.
We believe that technology is not just about "more features."
We believe that technology should not demand your attention for the sake of demanding your attention, or for the sake of serving itself or to steal a bit of your time for the sake of fiddling on a screen to learn more about how to sell something to you.
We believe these things especially when it comes to your sacred time out on the ride.
We knew we wanted to create a cycling computer that represented this somewhat contrary point of view.
We didn't create the OMATA One just to be different, nor to be "retro."
We are not looking backwards. If you squint a bit, you can see that we are looking forwards.
We are looking at a future where digital does not always have to mean a long list of complicated features, or an LCD display, or beeping, or plastic, or square.
Are we a bit contrarian? Are we a bit different than the rest? Are we happy to stand apart from the normal, pedestrian, everyday view of technology?
Of course we are. Are you?
